Concept, design and production of six key AV installations for the BME, running for the next ten years at the O2.
A large dual screen movie projected around one of the Dome’s giant supporting masts. It is 15 minute animated history of the art of the music promo from the Beatles through to Bowie, Radiohead to Dizzee Rascal. The videos are presented via a DNA strand of ‘Promo History’ that curls around the 360 degree screen.
A rotary wheel mimicking the feel of a radio tuner allows the user to roll back and forth through the history of music transmission. Still and moving imagery from key moments in music history are triggered along an informative text and audio time-line.
Posterwall is a large video-projected wall that is constantly being papered over by new band posters and music listings. The system is a real-time 3D animation that takes images, text and video from a specially designed content management system. The BME curators drop assets into a series of pre-designed templates, and publish them to the wall. Posterwall continues to build up in layers until a pre-set timeout when we digitally ‘spray paint’ the whole facade and introduce the ‘Beat Goes On’ – the finale of the experience, and its entrance, hidden by the posters, opens to let them in.
A large touch table interactive entirely built around character animation that can be played by groups.
Holopro translucent screens cover the front of display cabinets containing consumer playback kit illustrating the rapid change in the technology from wax cylinder to mp3 players. Selecting media clips from a floating interface allows users to watch commercials, features and promotional films, that sit suspended between them and the objects.
The dramatic closing finale which uses 14 synced high def projectors and three layers of screens, 13 point sound plus light and smoke effects to recreate 40 years of live concert experience in a truly immersive experience.
