Courtauld Institute Digital Workshops
13th Dec 2016
We were in the amazing surrounds of the Courtauld Institute at Somerset House this week running a workshop with our friends at RAA on Digitising Cultural Institutions. The Courtauld is perhaps best known for its School of the History of Art but also contains the incredible art collection gathered by Samuel Courtauld and an archive of over 12 million items. We are working with RAA on re-interpreting the organisation as it goes under a major period of re-development, opening up the archives and its activities.

Signal Sounds Identity
23rd Nov 2016
We’ve just developed a bold, new identity for Jason Brunton and his new venture at Signal Sounds. The new venture, based in Glasgow, sells analogue and digital instruments with a heavy focus on modular synths. The graphic approach combines the ‘logical’ and ‘messy’ world of synth patchboards. A fully developed website will be coming in 2017.
Project page coming soon.

Dockyard Chatham Winter Closure
21st Nov 2016
The Historic Royal Dockyard Chatham offers a unique visitor experience as the world’s most complete dockyard from the Age of Sail. Visitors can discover the secrets of Britain’s maritime history through our media installations in four of its popular exhibitions: No. 1 Smithery, Steam, Steel and Submarines and more recently Command of the Oceans.
In four new interactive galleries, Command of the Oceans explores Chatham’s trade roots, the full dockyard story, the mystery of the Namur which was a ship found under the floor and a treasure trove of archaeological objects recovered from the sea bed.
The Dockyard is located just 35 miles from central London and will close for the winter on Sunday 27 November.

Beyond the Battlefield
14th Nov 2016
A century ago, the plight of those returning from battle was answered by Glasgow University’s surgeon Sir William Macewen and Princess Louise, Queen Victoria’s fourth daughter. Together, they established Erskine Hospital which has cared for more than 85,000 veterans and led the way in treatment and rehabilitation. With assistance from Clydeside shipbuilders, early residents became experts in making their own artificial limbs. The BBC delves into Erskine’s archives to tell the story of the people who live and work there.
To compliment the documentary, we created the title card, graphic sequences and rostrums using 3D depth maps, displacement filters and chromatic aberration.

BME Moves to Liverpool
7th Nov 2016
The original British Music Experience was housed at the Millennium Dome for five years until it closed its doors in 2014. It will now be re-opening in early 2017 at the iconic Cunard Building on Liverpool’s waterfront. The BME will show visitors how rock, pop and dance have influenced British popular culture over the past 70 years. The collection includes classic artefacts and memorabilia such as David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust costumes and the original handwritten lyrics to Blue Monday by New Order.
Four of our original media installations from London will be re-versioned and updated to make the move north to be housed within the grandeur of one of the Three Graces buildings on the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pier Head at Liverpool Docks.

Erskine Hospital at 100
31st Oct 2016
Leading the way for the development of prosthetic limbs, Erskine Hospital has cared for more than 85,000 ex-service personnel since its opening in 1916. To commemorate its 100 year anniversary, the BBC has created a documentary to tell Erskine’s story through archive footage of staff and patients. ISO were tasked with treating the sequences to give a more ‘filmic’ appearance.
We created the title card, 13 graphic sequences and 25 rostrums using 3D depth maps, displacement filters and chromatic aberration.
See the one-hour documentary, Beyond The Battlefield: 100 Years Of Erskine on Thursday 3 November at 21.00, BBC Two Scotland.

One year on
21st Oct 2016
Today we celebrate our one year anniversary in our new studio in Glasgow’s vibrant Merchant City. The development and relocation to 65 Virginia Street was one of our most demanding projects to date. We worked closely with McGinley Bell for over 18 months and it was well worth the wait. We find ourselves eager to get in in the morning to enjoy the space.
A full case study of the redevelopment will follow soon.
