In the run-up to the Referendum debate the BBC are broadcasting ‘The Stuarts’ their new three part primetime series on Britain’s defining Royal Family.

The Stuarts laid the foundation for modern Britain, grappling with the chaos of three separate kingdoms and civil war. Dr Claire Jackson looks at how they were fatally divided by religion and how Scotland lost its sovereignty.
