Our first immersive 360-degree virtual reality short film will premiere at the tenth Glasgow Short Film Festival this week from 16-19 March. Directed by Prof Nick Higgins and produced by staff and students at the UWS Creative Media Academy in collaboration with ourselves, this ground-breaking production was filmed at Ayr Racecourse and follows champion jockey, Jason Hart on race day.
Gaining access to areas rarely seen by the public, the team used multi camera 360° filming rigs and 3D audio to capture a series of scenes; from the jockeys weighing in room, in amongst the horses as they race and alongside the punters at the finishing line. We also worked closely with Elevator Audio to create a specially designed 360° spatial ambisonic mix for the film.
