A major collaboration between The Glasgow School of Art and ISO will bring the fire damaged life-sized statues, originally in the Macintosh building, back to life using virtual and augmented reality.
The award from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) allows us and the School of Simulation and Visualisation at GSA to build a prototype of the iconic Laocoön statue. The statue has been 3D scanned by the SimVis department and visitors will be able to interact and learn more about the statue, on tablets and VR headsets.
We’ve just completed the first of our workshops with a wider curatorial and expert team, with more happening over summer 2018 before the opening in spring 2019.
